Clark C15D Specifications
Basic Information
The Clark C15D is a diesel-powered forklift that delivers a compelling balance of power, efficiency, and versatility for general material handling operations. Its core strength lies in the proven Yanmar 4TNV88 diesel engine, a four-cylinder powerplant providing dependable torque and reliability for continuous use. The machine rolls on pneumatic tires, offering excellent traction and shock absorption for uneven surfaces and outdoor terrain.
Operator control is facilitated through
features like hydrostatic power steering and a fully-welded, heavy-gauge
frame for stability. The C15D is equipped with a CLARK TA12
single-speed, full-reversing Powershift transaxle, designed for
durability. With competitive travel and lift speeds for its class, the
C15D is designed for productive operation across various applications.
This model is equipped with clear-view uprights, available in Standard,
Hilo, and Triplex versions, featuring heavy-duty interlocked narrow
profiles and adjustable sealed canted rollers to minimize deflection. It
rolls on pneumatic tires, offering excellent stability and traction for
outdoor use. The distance from the centre of the drive axle to the fork
face is 15.4 in (392 mm). The wheelbase is 55.1 in (1,400 mm).
The total service weight of the truck is approximately 6,140 lb (2,785 kg). When fully laden, the axle load distribution places approximately 8,250 lb (3,744 kg) on the front axle and 1,220 lb (554 kg) on the rear axle. In an unladen state, the front axle load is 2,830 lb (1,283 kg), and the rear axle load is 3,340 lb (1,515 kg).
Engine Specs
The Clark C15D is powered by the Yanmar 4TNV88 diesel engine, a robust and reliable powerplant specifically designed for industrial operation. It is a four-cylinder, natural aspiration engine with a total displacement of 134 cu in (2,190 cc).
This engine produces a rated power of 38.6 hp (28.8 kW) at 2,400 rpm, with peak torque of 106 lb-ft (144 Nm) at 1,440 rpm. Lubrication is provided by a pressure-fed system ensuring all moving components are adequately lubricated. Cooling is managed by a liquid-cooled system designed to maintain optimal operating temperatures.
Drive Train
The drivetrain of the C15D is engineered for precise
control and long-term durability. Transmission: It is fitted with a CLARK TA12
single speed, full-reversing Powershift transaxle with a high stall ratio
industrial torque converter and full-floating drive axles.
Travel Speed: The forklift achieves a laden travel speed of 10.7 mph (17.2 km/h)
and an unladen travel speed of 11.1 mph (17.9 km/h). Axles: The drive axle is
located at the front, featuring a full-floating powertrain design for heavy load
support. Brakes: The service brake system is hydraulic with drum and shoe
design. The parking brake is a foot pedal type.
Electrical System
The electrical system is engineered to reliably support the engine, safety features, and lighting. It operates on a standard 12-volt architecture. The system powers the starter motor, engine control systems, and all essential lighting components for safe operation. A battery inspection is part of the daily maintenance routine, checking for damage, cracks, or leaking condition.
Wheels and Tires
The chassis provides a rigid and durable foundation,
constructed from heavy-gauge steel with fully welded frame construction to
support all major components under load stress.
Wheels and Tires: The C15D is fitted with pneumatic tires with 2 front and 2
rear wheels.
Front: 6.50 x 10 - 12PR
Rear: 5.00 x 8 - 10PR
Track Width:
Front: 35.0 in (890 mm)
Rear: 35.0 in (890 mm)
Drive Configuration: The vehicle utilizes a 2-wheel drive configuration, with
the two front wheels serving as the driven wheels.
The steering system on the Clark C15D is a hydrostatic power steering system,
providing the operator with smooth and effortless control during low-speed
maneuvering and in confined spaces. A priority distributor in the hydraulic
system ensures steering priority in all conditions.
Hydraulic System
The hydraulic system is responsible for powering the lifting, tilting, and any auxiliary functions. It utilizes a full-flow reverse filter which filters the oil to the tank at each reverse flow. Rough particles are filtered via a suction filter, ensuring long service life for all hydraulic components. A high-capacity pump provides adequate oil supply for the upright and hydrostatic steering.
The system operating pressure for attachments is up to 2,030 psi (140 bar). The main hydraulic pump has a rated flow of up to 9.2 gpm (35 L/min) for attachments. Load handling is controlled via a load-sensitive, precise control valve, and a safety valve prevents uncontrolled lowering of the load. The mast tilts forward by 8 degrees and backward by 8 degrees.
Mast Data
The standard mast configuration is available as a
2-stage or 3-stage, clear-view upright design depending on application
requirements. Mast Height (Lowered): 88.1 in (2,240 mm).
Free Lift: 4.3 in (110 mm). This feature allows for lifting loads at low heights
without increasing the overall mast height, a valuable function when entering
trailers or working under low-clearance structures.
Maximum Fork Height: 129.6 in (3,285 mm). Mast Height (Extended) (with LBR):
177.2 in (4,502 mm).
