cc. The ECO-eLo fuel efficiency mode helps reduce fuel consumption by up to 20%
with limited effect on overall productivity. The Fortens load-sensing hydraulics
(LSH) increase productivity while reducing fuel consumption. The fuel tank
capacity is 52.8 L or 13.9 gal.
Lubrication: The engine lubrication system is a forced-feed type, employing a
gear pump to circulate oil throughout the engine block and cylinder head,
ensuring all moving components are adequately lubricated for reduced friction
and prolonged engine life. The system includes a full-flow oil filter to remove
contaminants. The simplified wiring and hydraulics layout offers very easy
access to components, facilitating and reducing service times.
Cooling: Engine temperature is regulated by a liquid cooling system with an
electronic cooling system featuring fan and thermostat. This system comprises a
radiator, a water pump, a thermostat, and a cooling fan. The water pump
circulates coolant through the engine jackets to absorb heat, which is then
dissipated as it passes through the radiator core. The built-in cooling system
maintains normal operating temperature for all systems for extended periods.
Transmission: The Hyster H3.5FT Fortens is equipped
with an electronically controlled DuraMatch powershift transmission available in
1-speed or 2-speed configurations. The standard Fortens model features

transmission providing smoother directional changes to eliminate shock loads and
extend clutch pack service life. The Fortens Advance+ models feature DuraMatch
or DuraMatch Plus2 transmission with additional 2-speed functionality, dynamic
auto deceleration system, throttle response management, and auto-speed
hydraulics.
The Auto Deceleration System automatically slows the truck when the accelerator
pedal is released and brings the truck to a stop, significantly extending brake
and tyre life with 10 programmable ADS settings. Controlled Power Reversal
allows the VSM to control the transmission for smooth direction changes,
virtually eliminating tyre spin and shock loads.
Travel Speed: The forklift achieves a laden travel speed of 17.5 km/h or 10.9
mph and an unladen speed of 17.9 km/h or 11.1 mph. The turning radius is 2380 mm
or 93.7 in.
Axles: The front axle is a rigid, drive axle that carries the majority of the
load, while the rear axle is a steer axle designed to oscillate, allowing all
wheels to maintain ground contact on uneven surfaces. The wheelbase measures
1700 mm or 66.9 in. The tread width is 965 mm or 38.0 in for the front and 967
mm or 38.1 in for the rear.
Brakes: The service brake system is available as hydraulic drum or oil-immersed
wet disc brakes. Fortens Advance and Advance+ options include oil-immersed
brakes that help reduce maintenance requirements and enhance operating safety.
Oil-immersed brakes are housed in sealed units preventing contaminants and
damage, protecting them in dirty environments. The parking brake is mechanical.
The electrical system operates on a 12 V architecture
with CANbus communications network enabling reliable operation and reduced
wiring complexity. The Pacesetter VSM on-board industrial computer controls,
protects and manages all powertrains, ensuring maximum uptime and dependability
with fast and accurate trouble-shooting and first-time fixes. Hall-Effect
