Basic Technical Data: The forklift is powered by the
PSI 4G63 (MMC 4G63) engine, a four-cylinder LPG unit with dual overhead camshaft
(DOHC) design. With a displacement of 1997 cc or 122 cu.in, this engine produces
36.8 kW or 49.3 hp of power at a rated speed of 2650 rpm, with alternative
ratings of 34.3 kW at 2600 rpm. The engine delivers peak torque of 101 lb-ft at
1800 rpm. The bore and stroke are 85 mm x 88 mm with a compression ratio of
8.8:1, featuring a cast iron block and aluminum head with 16 valves. The engine
type for some model years may be Hyundai with 38.8 kW.
Lubrication: The engine lubrication system is a forced-feed type, employing a
gear pump to circulate oil throughout the engine block and cylinder head,
ensuring all moving components are adequately lubricated for reduced friction
and prolonged engine life. The system includes a full-flow oil filter to remove
contaminants. The initial 50-hour inspection requires changing the engine oil
and replacing the engine oil filter, removing the filter cartridge, greasing the
sealing ring on the new filter cartridge, and removing the oil pan drain plug to
drain old oil, followed by checking for leaks after installation.
Cooling: Engine temperature is regulated by a liquid cooling system. This system
comprises a radiator, a water pump, a thermostat, and a cooling fan. Daily
inspection of the engine cooling system requires checking coolant level directly
in the radiator and at the overflow canister. Yearly or 2000 hourly maintenance
includes draining and flushing radiator coolant.
Transmission: The Clark C18CL is equipped with a
powershift transmission. Yearly or 2000 hourly maintenance includes replacing
transmission oil C15-35. The initial 50-hour inspection includes checking
transmission fluid.
Travel Speed: The forklift achieves a laden travel speed of 16.9 km/h or 10.5
mph and an unladen speed of 17.0 km/h or 10.6 mph.
Axles: The front axle is a rigid, drive axle that carries the majority of the
load, while the rear axle is a steer axle designed to oscillate, allowing all
wheels to maintain ground contact on uneven surfaces. The wheelbase measures
1220 mm or 48.0 in. The tread width is 803 mm or 31.6 in for the front and 822
mm or 32.4 in for the rear. Yearly or 2000 hourly maintenance includes checking
and lubricating steer axle wheel bearings.
Brakes: The service brake system is hydraulic drum type, providing reliable and
controlled stopping power. The service brake is foot/hydraulic operated. Daily
forklift inspection requires checking pedal play and operation of the service
brake. Yearly or 2000 hourly maintenance includes checking brake condition and
wear.
The electrical system operates on a 12 V architecture.
Daily electrical system inspection requires checking that indicator lights
function and indicate normal truck operation. The system includes a
comprehensive wiring harness connecting all electrical components. The
dash-mounted instrument display provides gauges and warning indicators.
Wheel Drive: The Clark C18CL features a 2-wheel drive
configuration, with the front wheels providing the tractive effort (2x driven
wheels).
Wheels: The forklift uses a 2x/2 wheel configuration, meaning two wheels on the
front axle and two on the rear. The front wheels are the driven wheels. The
machine features a robust frame for enhanced durability.
Tires: This model is fitted with cushion tyres as standard. The tyre size for
the front is 18 x 7 x 12.125, and for the rear, it is 14 x 4.5 x 8. Daily
forklift inspection requires checking wheels and tires for any damage or loose
wheel nuts, and checking tire pressure from a position facing the tread of the
tire. These tyres are ideal for indoor smooth surfaces.
Steering: The steering system is hydrostatic power steering, making manoeuvring
the truck effortless for the operator. The turning radius is 1972 mm or 77.6 in.
Alternative sources indicate 1.84 m turning radius or approximately 6.1 ft. The
compact profile provides excellent maneuverability through a tight turning
