The Clark C15L is powered by the HMC Theta 2.4 L
engine, a sophisticated four-cylinder LPG power unit known for its reliability,
fuel efficiency, and advanced electronic controls.
Basic Technical Data: The engine is a four-cylinder LPG engine with a
displacement of 2359 cc or 144 cu in. It produces a rated power of 38 kW at 2600
rpm, equivalent to 51 hp at 2600 rpm. Some sources indicate variations with the
Mitsubishi 4G63 engine producing 40 hp at 2100 rpm, but the primary
specification for this model is the HMC Theta 2.4 L. The engine meets Tier
emission standards appropriate for its production era.
Lubrication: The engine employs a forced lubrication system. Routine
maintenance, including oil and filter changes, is mandated at specific hourly
intervals as outlined in the periodic maintenance schedule to ensure longevity
and performance. The initial 50-hour inspection includes changing the engine oil
and replacing the engine oil filter, removing the filter cartridge, greasing the
sealing ring on the new filter cartridge, and checking for leaks after changing
oil and installing new filter.
Cooling: Engine temperature is regulated by a pressurized liquid cooling system.
Daily inspection includes checking the engine cooling system for coolant level
and leaks. Regular inspection of coolant levels and condition, as well as
monitoring the radiator, water pump, and hoses for wear and debris, is part of
standard preventative maintenance.
The drivetrain is engineered to provide smooth power
delivery and precise control, essential for maneuvering loads efficiently in
various operating environments.
Transmission: The C15L is equipped with a CLARK own TA12 single speed, full
reversing, powershift transaxle with high stall ratio industrial torque
converter and full-floating drive axles. This transmission allows for direction
changes with a simple flip of a lever, without the need for clutching, enhancing
operator efficiency and reducing fatigue. The transmission type is powershift
with 1 forward and 1 reverse speed. The initial 50-hour inspection includes
checking transmission fluid.
Travel Speed: This forklift achieves a laden travel speed of 18.0 km/h or 11.2
mph, and an unladen speed of 18.4 km/h or 11.4 mph.
Axles: The front axle is a drive axle with full-floating design and 2 driven
wheels, designed to bear the majority of the load during lifting operations. The
rear axle is a steer axle with 2 wheels, which pivots to maintain ground contact
on uneven surfaces. Both are robustly constructed to handle the stresses of
daily use.
Brakes: Service braking is handled by drum and shoe brakes, providing reliable
and progressive deceleration essential for safety when handling loads. The
service brake type is drum and shoe, and the parking brake is foot pedal
operated. The braking system incorporates a 2-pedal, inch-brake system for
precise control. Daily inspection includes checking the service brake for pedal
play and operation of brakes, the inching function for pedal play and operation,
and the parking brake for function and holding capability.
The electrical system operates at a standard 12 volts,
powering the starter motor, lights, and electronic control units. Daily
inspection includes checking indicator lights for functioning and normal
operation. The system includes diagnostic capabilities for enhanced monitoring.
The chassis is a heavy-duty, fully welded steel
structure constructed from high-quality steel that supports all major
components: the engine, drivetrain, counterweight, and mast. The fully welded
heavy gauge frame ensures durability and longevity.
Wheels and Tires: The truck is fitted with pneumatic tires, which provide
enhanced stability and traction on various surfaces. The front tires are size
6.50x10-12PR, and the rear tires are size 5.00x8-10PR. Alternative sizes:
7.00-12 front and 6.00-9 rear. The wheel configuration features 2 driven wheels
at the front and 2 steer wheels at the rear. The front tread width is 890 mm or
35.0 in, and the rear tread width is 890 mm or 35.0 in. Daily inspection
includes checking wheels and tires for state, tightness of wheel nuts, and
pressure.
Steering: The C15L features hydrostatic power steering, which significantly
reduces the effort required to turn the wheel, especially when the truck is
stationary or moving slowly under load. The hydraulic system includes a priority
distributor ensuring steering priority in all conditions. Monthly maintenance
includes greasing steering tie rods and steering knuckle.
The hydraulic system powers the lifting, tilting, and
auxiliary functions such as sideshift. The system is designed for precise load
control and efficient operation. It includes a high-capacity pump providing
adequate oil supply for the upright and the hydrostatic steering, with a
priority distributor ensuring steering priority in all conditions. Load handling
is controlled via a load sensitive-response and precise control valve.
A full-flow reverse filter filters the oil to the tank at each reverse flow,
while rough particles are filtered directly via a suction filter, thereby
preventing them from entering the oil circuit and ensuring a long service life
for all hydraulic components. A safety valve provides extra safety and prevents
an uncontrolled lowering of the load at all times. The operating pressure for
attachments is maximum 140 bar (2030 psi), and the rated flow for attachments is
maximum 35 l/min (9.2 gpm). Monthly maintenance includes checking hydraulic oil
level.
The forklift is equipped with clear-view uprights
available in Standard, Hilo and Triplex versions. The heavy duty interlocked
narrow profiles provide high strength even under the heaviest load. Adjustable
sealed canted (angled) rollers minimize deflection particularly when handling
off-set loads. The tilt cylinders are mounted in spherical bearings. The
standard mast configuration has a lowered height of 2240 mm or 88.1 in. It
provides a free lift of 110 mm or 4.3 in, enabling lifting in low-clearance
areas before the mast sections begin to extend.
The maximum lift height is 3285 mm or 129 in. The mast tilts forward by 8
degrees and backward by 8 degrees to facilitate load handling and secure
transport. The fork carriage is DIN 15173 Class IIA, with carriage width of 940
mm or 37 in. The standard fork dimensions are 40 mm thick, 100 mm wide, and 1070
mm long, which is 1.6 in by 3.9 in by 42 in. The maximum fork spread is 1040 mm
or 41 in. Monthly maintenance includes cleaning, checking and lubricating the
upright inside rails, rollers and side loader, and checking tension of lift
chains.
