Basic Technical Data: The forklift is powered by the
Mitsubishi 4G64 engine, a four-cylinder LPG unit with overhead camshaft design.
With a displacement of 2350 cc or 143 cu.in, this engine produces 55 kW or 73.8
hp of power at a rated speed of 2600 rpm. The engine delivers peak torque of 120
lb-ft at 1400 rpm. The engine features ECU-controlled ignition timing for
increased torque and electronic tachometer. The 4-cylinder design provides long
life, quick starting, and easy maintenance with minimal emissions and reduced
noise level through indirect injection.
Lubrication: The engine lubrication system is a forced-feed type, employing a
gear pump to circulate oil throughout the engine block and cylinder head,
ensuring all moving components are adequately lubricated for reduced friction
and prolonged engine life. The system includes a full-flow oil filter to remove
contaminants. The hydraulic system ensures oil purity through hydraulic oil
filtration on every return to the tank.
Cooling: Engine temperature is regulated by a liquid cooling system with gearbox
oil cooling capability. This system comprises a radiator, a water pump, a
thermostat, and a cooling fan. The water pump circulates coolant through the
engine jackets to absorb heat, which is then dissipated as it passes through the
radiator core. Cooling system maintenance includes draining and flushing
radiator coolant at yearly or 2000 hourly intervals.
Transmission: The Clark C30L is equipped with a
Powershift transmission featuring one forward and one reverse gear, designated
as type W. This transmission allows for smooth direction changes without the
need for a clutch pedal, reducing operator fatigue during frequent shuttling.
The one-piece transmission design eliminates unprotected felt, drive, and other
components, featuring an original CLARK transmission with cushioned shifting for
effortless gear changes. A common oil sump for both transmission and torque
converter allows cooling of the transmission along with the torque converter,
and a inching valve permits precise control of travel speed during intensive
stacking operations.
Travel Speed: The forklift achieves a laden travel speed of 20.1 km/h or 12.5
mph and an unladen speed of 20.5 km/h or 12.7 mph.
Axles: The front axle is a rigid, drive axle that carries the majority of the
load, while the rear axle features a robust, double-cut design that withstands
impacts without braking, with classic double-ended structure providing extra
control power. The rear axle is designed to oscillate, allowing all wheels to
maintain ground contact on uneven surfaces, which is crucial for stability. The
wheelbase measures 1700 mm or 66.9 in.The tread width is 1028 mm or 40.5 in for
the front, with an alternative of 1108 mm, and 912 mm or 35.9 in for the rear.
Brakes: The service brake system is hydraulic drum and shoe type, providing
reliable and controlled stopping power. The service brake is foot/hydraulic
operated. The parking brake is foot pedal operated , designed for easy and
error-free manual control, easily released and adjusted. When the transmission
is in neutral and the hand brake is adjusted, it prevents the forklift from
driving, thereby preventing potential workplace accidents.
The electrical system operates on a 12V architecture
with daily electrical system inspection recommended. The system includes a
comprehensive wiring harness connecting all electrical components. The
electronic tachometer provides accurate engine speed monitoring. Engine
electrical parts including distributors, rotors, starters, and alternators are
available for the Mitsubishi 4G64 engine used in Clark forklifts.
Wheel Drive: The Clark C30L features a 2-wheel drive
configuration with the option of dual tyres on the drive axle, resulting in a
2(4)x/2 configuration where the front wheels provide the tractive effort.
Wheels: The forklift uses a 2x/2 or 4x/2 wheel configuration depending on
whether dual tyres are fitted, meaning two or four wheels on the front axle and
two on the rear. The front wheels are the driven wheels. The machine features a
single-piece, welded steel frame that protects the machine from impact and
damage, extending its service life.
Tires: This model is fitted with pneumatic tyres as standard, designated type L
(SE). Some units are equipped with cushion tyres. The tyre size for the front is
8.15 x 15 - 14 PR. Alternative front tyre size is 28x9-15. The tyre size for the
rear is 6.50 x 10 - 12 PR. Dual tyres are available on the drive axle to improve
traction and stability, with tread width increasing to 1108 mm in dual
configuration.
Steering: The steering system is hydrostatic power steering, making manoeuvring
the truck effortless for the operator. The system includes a robust steering
axle with pivotal bearings for stable, vibration-free operation. The steer axle
features a robust, double-cut design that withstands impacts without braking.
The hydraulic system is designed for efficient lifting
and tilting operations, ensuring oil purity through hydraulic oil filtration on
every return to the tank. It operates at a maximum operating pressure for
attachments of 140 bar or 2030 psi. Some sources indicate adjustable hydraulic
pressure or 2700 psi. The system pump delivers a rated flow of up to 35 L/min or
9.2 gpm for attachments. A large 47-liter or 11.9 gal hydraulic oil tank allows
the use of numerous attachments. Increased safety is provided through power
failure protection to prevent uncontrolled lowering of loads.
Maximum horsepower is achieved through load sensing flow valve, reducing heat
buildup. Optimum performance for attachments includes adjustable flow control
for tilt movements and auxiliary functions integrated into the main hydraulic
valve. Sectional design allows adding auxiliary functions and easy maintenance,
with mast-mounted load lowering valve providing lowering control independent of
engine speed. The hydraulic sump oil filter and hydraulic tank air breather
require replacement at 900 hourly or 6 monthly intervals. Hydraulic oil level
should be checked at 50 hourly intervals.
The Clark C30L can be equipped with various mast types
including standard, Hilo, Triplex, and Quad configurations. The lifting systems
feature excellent visibility thanks to extra-wide masts, narrow center
cylinders, and optimized mast design, with angled mast rollers and tilt
cylinders mounted in pendulum bearings. An integrated tilt lock valve prevents
excessively rapid or unintentional forward tilting of the lifting system.
Specifications for a standard mast include a lowered height of 2180 mm or 85.8
in.
The mast has a free lift of 110 mm or 4.3 in, allowing the forks to be raised to
this height without increasing the mast's overall height. The standard lift
height is 3300 mm or 130 in. At full lift, the upright extends to a height of
3900 mm or 153.5 in with load backrest. The fork carriage is CLASS II A
