mm or 66.9 in. Its service weight ranges from 4516 kg to 4750 kg depending on
configuration and model year, equivalent to 10,300 lb to 10,470 lb. Axle
loadings when laden show front axle load of 6857 kg or 15,138 lb and rear axle
load of 1115 kg or 2162 lb. When unladen, front axle load is 1665 kg or 3671 lb
and rear axle load is 3007 kg or 6629 lb.
The Clark C35L is powered by a 4-cylinder LPG engine,
with engine manufacturer varying by production year and series. Later GEN2
models utilize the Hyundai Theta 2.4 L engine, while earlier models feature the
Mitsubishi 4G64 or 4G63 engine.
Basic Technical Data: The engine is a four-cylinder LPG with overhead camshaft
design and ECU-controlled ignition timing for increased torque. Displacement is
2350 cc to 2400 cc or approximately 146 cu in. Rated output ranges from 51.6 kW
to 55 kW at 2600-2650 rpm, equivalent to 69 hp to 74 hp. The Mitsubishi 4G63
version produces 51.6 kW, while the Hyundai Theta 2.4 produces 70.4 hp at 2650
rpm. The engine features an electronic tachometer and complies with relevant
emission regulations, with some models CARB compliant and featuring US EPA
labels.
Lubrication: The engine employs a forced lubrication system. Routine
maintenance, including oil and filter changes, is mandated at specific hourly
intervals as outlined in the periodic maintenance schedule to ensure longevity
and performance.
Cooling: Engine temperature is regulated by a pressurized liquid cooling system
with a separate radiator providing maximum cooling for the engine. Regular
inspection of coolant levels and condition, as well as monitoring the radiator,
water pump, and hoses for wear and debris, is part of standard preventative
maintenance.
Transmission: The C35L is equipped with a powershift
automatic transmission (type W or HY) with hydraulic control. The transmission
features one forward and one reverse gear, with electronic directional controls
for true tactile operation. A shared oil sump for transmission and torque
converter allows the transmission to be cooled along with the converter. A
deceleration valve allows precise control of travel speed during intensive
stacking operations.
Travel Speed: This forklift achieves a laden travel speed ranging from 21.3 km/h
to 21.6 km/h (13.2 mph to 13.4 mph), and an unladen speed of 21.7 km/h to 22.1
km/h (13.5 mph to 13.8 mph) depending on configuration.
Axles: The front axle is a drive axle with 2 driven wheels in standard
configuration, with 4x2 dual tyres available on the drive axle for improved
traction. The wheelbase is 1700 mm or 66.9 in. The robust steering axle features
a "double shear" design with connecting pivots designed to withstand impacts
without loosening or breaking. The double acting steer cylinder provides the
steering force through a single axle design.
Brakes: Service braking is handled by hydraulic drum and shoe brakes (service
brake type drum and shoe) providing reliable and progressive deceleration. The
parking brake is foot pedal operated, with an interlock that prevents forward or
reverse travel while the parking brake is activated. When the parking brake is
set, the transmission disengages, preventing driving against the brake and
enhancing safety.
The electrical system operates at a standard 12 volts,
powering the starter motor, lights, and electronic control units. The system
includes a complete set of lights and safety systems as standard equipment. The
neutral start safety feature prevents the engine from starting if the gearshift
is not in neutral. The sound level measured is 78 dBA to 83 dBA depending on
configuration.
The chassis is a heavy-duty, one-piece, fully welded
steel frame constructed from high-strength, welded and formed steel plate that
protects the machine from impact damage and extends its service life. The
integrated hydraulic sump provides cooling for the hydraulic system.
Wheels and Tires: The truck is fitted with pneumatic tires as standard, with
superelastic options available. The front tires are size 250 x 15 - 18PR
(250-15-18PR). The rear tires are size 6.50 x 10 - 14PR or 6.50 x 10-12PR. The
wheel configuration features 2 driven wheels at the front and 2 steer wheels at
the rear in standard configuration. Front tread width is 1050 mm or 41.3 in,
with optional 1130 mm for wide configurations. Rear tread width is 912 mm or
35.9 in.
Steering: The C35L features hydrostatic power steering that eliminates steering
kick-back, significantly reducing the effort required to turn the wheel. The
steering column is adjustable (tilting) to suit the operator for comfortable
operation and easy entry and exit. Car-like pedals ensure smooth maneuvering
with very little effort while leaving plenty of room for foot support.
The hydraulic system powers the lifting, tilting, and
auxiliary functions such as sideshift. The system is designed to provide maximum
horsepower while using a load-sensing flow control valve to reduce power loss
and heat build-up. A full-flow reverse filter filters the oil to the tank at
each reverse flow, ensuring oil purity through hydraulic oil filtration on every
return to the tank. Rough particles are filtered directly via a suction filter,
preventing them from entering the oil circuit and ensuring long service life for
all hydraulic components. Gearbox oil cooling is integrated into the system.
The large 47-liter hydraulic oil tank allows the use of numerous attachments. A
safety valve provides power failure protection to prevent uncontrolled lowering
of the load at all times. The operating pressure for attachments is maximum 140
bar (2030 psi), and the rated flow for attachments is maximum 35 l/min (9.2
gpm). The main hydraulic valve features adjustable flow controls for tilt and
auxiliary functions for optimal performance of attachments. The sectional design
of the hydraulic system allows for the easy addition of extra functions and
simplifies service.
The forklift is equipped with clear-view uprights
available in Standard, Hilo, Triplex, and Quad configurations, with excellent
visibility thanks to extra-wide masts, narrow center cylinders, and optimized
mast design. The I-beam style rails maximize visibility and robustness, allowing
for internal hose and cable routing. Angled mast rollers and tilt cylinders
mounted in pendulum bearings enhance performance.
An integrated tilt lock valve prevents excessively rapid or unintentional
forward tilting of the lifting system when the engine is off. Hydraulic
cushioning valves create silent staging that reduces shock during lifting and
lowering. The standard mast configuration has a lowered height of 2200 mm or
86.6 in. It provides a free lift of 115 mm or 4.5 in, enabling lifting in
low-clearance areas before the mast sections begin to extend.
The maximum lift height ranges from 3165 mm to 4165 mm (125 in to 164 in)
depending on mast configuration, with triplex masts achieving up to 4800 mm (189
in) and quad masts reaching 7315 mm (288 in). The mast extends to a height of
3900 mm to 4502 mm (153.5 in to 177.2 in) including load backrest depending on
configuration. The mast tilts forward by 8 degrees and backward by 10 degrees to
facilitate load handling and secure transport.
The fork carriage is DIN 15173 Class II A, with carriage width of 1145 mm or
45.0 in. A robust 6-roller fork carriage with hook suspension features 6 coined,
sealed and inclined load rollers that maximize load distribution and reduce
backlash, plus side thrust rollers that minimize deflection and side play. The
standard fork dimensions are 50 mm thick, 122 mm wide, and 1067 mm long, which
is 2.0 in by 4.8 in by 42 in. Integral sideshift is available as standard
equipment on many models.
Load Capacity - 7,700 lb (3,500 kg)
Load Centre - 24 in (600 mm)
The lift speed with a load is 0.52 m/s to 0.53 m/s (102
ft/min to 104 ft/min), and without a load, it increases to 0.58 m/s to 0.63 m/s
(114 ft/min to 124 ft/min) depending on configuration. Lowering speeds are 0.47
m/s to 0.50 m/s (92.5 ft/min to 98 ft/min) with load and 0.43 m/s to 0.47 m/s
(84.6 ft/min to 92.5 ft/min) without load. The truck can generate a maximum
drawbar pull of 4390 lb (19,530 N) when laden, and 2020 lb (9,900 N). Its
gradeability is 24.1 percent to 26.2 percent when laden.
The overall length of the truck, including the standard
1067 mm or 42 in forks, is 3558 mm or 140 in when measured to the fork face. The
length to the face of the forks is 2770 mm or 109 in. The overall width is 1315
mm or 51.8 in. The seat height is 1139 mm or 44.8 in, and the coupling height is
410 mm or 16.1 in. The height to the top of the overhead guard is 2165 mm or
85.2 in, with cabin height of 2050 mm or 80.7 in.
Ground clearance, laden, is 170 mm or 6.7 in below the mast, and 165 mm or 6.5
in at the centre of the wheelbase. The minimum aisle width required for
right-angle stacking with 1000 x 1200 mm pallets crossways is 3900 mm or 153.5
in, and for 800 x 1200 mm pallets lengthways, it is 3700 mm or 145.7 in. The
outside turning radius is 2480 mm or 97.6 in. The truck's operating weight, as
