Clark C45D Specifications
The Clark C45D is a diesel-powered forklift that
delivers exceptional power, durability, and efficiency for heavy-duty
operations. Its core strength lies in the robust Deutz TD3.6 diesel engine, a
four-cylinder turbocharged powerplant providing substantial torque and
reliability for continuous use. The engine meets Stage 3b emission regulations
and is designed for extreme environments with a two-stage air filter system that
removes 98% of dust and debris before it enters the filtration system.
Operator comfort and safety are prioritized through features like hydrostatic
power steering eliminating steering kick-back, an ergonomic operator compartment
with adjustable steering column, and maintenance-free wet disc service brakes.
The C45D is equipped with a two-speed automatic transmission and is designed for
productive operation across various applications with low operating costs.
This model is equipped with clear-view uprights available in Standard, Hilo, and
Triplex versions featuring nested I-beam profiles with rails that are 55%
stronger than conventional flat rails. Sealed, sloped, wedged load rollers
maximize load distribution and reduce backlash. It rolls on heavy-duty pneumatic
tires with standard front tire size 8.25x15-16 PR and rear tire size 7.00x12-14
PR. Available with dual tyres on the drive axle to improve traction and
stability when cornering.
The distance from the centre of the drive axle to the fork face is 22.6 in (573
mm), supported by a wheelbase of 76.8 in (1,950 mm). The total service weight of
the truck is approximately 14,550 lb (6,608 kg). When fully laden, the axle load
distribution places approximately 21,670 lb (9,844 kg) on the front axle and
2,790 lb (1,264 kg) on the rear axle. In an unladen state, the front axle load
approximately 6,260 lb (2,840 kg), and the rear axle load approximately 8,300 lb
(3,767 kg).
The Clark C45D is powered by the Deutz TD3.6 diesel
engine, a robust and reliable powerplant specifically designed for heavy-duty
industrial operation meeting Stage 3b emission levels. It is a four-cylinder,
turbocharged engine with a total displacement of 221 cu in (3,621 cc).
This engine produces a rated power of 74.3 hp
(55.4 kW) at 2,200 rpm. Lubrication is provided by a pressure-fed system
ensuring all moving components are adequately lubricated. Cooling is
managed by a liquid-cooled system with an open core radiator and finned
plates providing optimum engine, transmission and axle cooling, helping
the truck adapt to the harshest environments.
The drivetrain of the C45D is engineered for heavy
loads, precise control, and long-term durability. Transmission: It is fitted
with a two-gear automatic transmission with electronically commutated shifting,
which facilitates smooth direction changes. The transmission incorporates a high
stall ratio industrial torque converter. Travel Speed: The forklift achieves a
laden travel speed of 13.5 mph (21.8 km/h) and an unladen travel speed of 14.4
mph (23.2 km/h).
Axles: The drive axle is located at the front. The rear steer axle has pivotal
bearings mounted in rubber steel elements, with tapered and greaseable steering
pivot bearings for longer machine life. Connecting pivots have a double shear
design to withstand impacts without loosening or breaking. Brakes: The service
brake system utilizes maintenance-free wet disc brakes. A simple and fail-safe
parking brake is actuated with a hand lever, and the transmission disengages
when the parking brake is engaged to prevent driving with the brakes locked.
The electrical system is engineered to reliably support
the engine, safety features, and lighting. It operates on a standard 12-volt
architecture. The system powers the starter motor, engine control systems, and
all essential lighting components for safe operation. An optional operator
presence sensor system disables hydraulic and transmission functions when the
operator leaves the seat. The powertrain protection monitoring system helps
safeguard the truck against overheating.
The chassis provides a rigid and durable foundation,
constructed from heavy-gauge steel with fully welded frame construction to
support all major components under heavy load stress.
Wheels and Tires: The C45D is fitted with heavy-duty pneumatic tires.
Front: 8.25 x 15 - 16 PR
Rear: 7.00 x 12 - 14 PR
Track Width:
Front: 45.9 in (1,165 mm) standard, up to 50.7 in (1,288 mm) with dual tyres.
Rear: 44.6 in (1,134 mm).
Drive Configuration: The vehicle utilizes a 2-wheel drive configuration, with
the two front wheels serving as the driven wheels.
Steering: The steering system on the Clark C45D is a hydrostatic power steering
system that eliminates steering kick-back. This provides the operator with
exceptionally smooth and effortless control during low-speed maneuvering and in
confined spaces. The double acting steer cylinder ensures precise and direct
steering. A priority distributor in the hydraulic system ensures steering
priority in all conditions.
The hydraulic system is responsible for powering the
lifting, tilting, and any auxiliary functions. It utilizes a full-flow reverse
filter which filters the oil to the tank at each reverse flow. Rough particles
are filtered directly via a suction filter, thereby preventing them from
entering the oil circuit, ensuring a long service life for all hydraulic
components. A high-capacity pump provides adequate oil supply for the upright
and the hydrostatic steering.
The system operating pressure for attachments is up to 2,030 psi (140 bar). The
main hydraulic pump has a rated flow of up to 9.2 gpm (35 L/min) for
attachments. Load handling is controlled via a load sensitive-response and
precise control valve. Hydraulic dampening valves feature quiet sequential
operation that reduces jolts and vibrations. A safety valve provides extra
safety and prevents an uncontrolled lowering of the load at all times. The mast
tilts forward by 8 degrees and backward by 10 degrees.
The standard mast configuration is available as a
2-stage or 3-stage, clear-view upright design depending on application
requirements. The mast features nested I-beam profiles with rails that are 55%
stronger than conventional flat rails, together with improved lateral deflection
resistance facilitating increased truck life and improved stability under high
loads. The robust 6-roller fork carriage with adjustable side rollers ensures
durability.
Mast Height (Lowered): 93.9 in (2,384 mm). Free Lift: 6.1 in (156 mm). This
feature allows for lifting loads at low heights without increasing the overall
mast height, a valuable function when entering trailers or working under
low-clearance structures. Maximum Fork Height: 130 in (3,300 mm). Mast Height
(Extended) (with LBR): 179.2 in (4,552 mm).
