Hyster H90XMS Specifications
The Hyster H90XMS is a gas or LPG-powered,
counterbalanced forklift truck manufactured as part of the XMS series. This
sit-down rider model is engineered for demanding indoor and outdoor material
handling tasks requiring a rated load capacity of 9000 lb or 4082 kg. The
machine is powered by a GM 4.3L V6 engine producing 93.5 hp on gas or 84.9 hp on
LPG at a governed speed of 2200 rpm. The H90XMS features a durable powertrain
with an autoshifting powershift transmission available in 1-speed or optional
2-speed configurations.
The XMS series offers robust performance with hydrostatic power steering,
hydraulic service brakes, and mechanical parking brake. Additional features
include electronic inching, electronic shift control, adjustable steer column,
rubber floor mat, and 3-function hydraulic control valve. The machine is
available with 2-stage limited free-lift (LFL) or optional 3-stage full
free-lift (FFL) VISTA mast configurations.
The Hyster H90XMS is a four-wheeled forklift with a load capacity of 9000 lb or
4082 kg at a 24 in or 610 mm load centre. Its design prioritises stability and
manoeuvrability in demanding environments. The machine is fitted with pneumatic
tyres as standard with a 2x/2 configuration indicating two wheels on the front
drive axle and two wheels on the rear steer axle.
The transmission type is autoshifting powershift with 1 speed forward and 1
speed reverse as standard, with optional 2-speed forward configurations
available. The service weight of the truck without load is 13284 lb or 6026 kg.
Weight distribution without load places 5573 lb or 2528 kg on the front axle and
7911 lb or 3588 kg on the rear axle. With load, weight distribution shifts to
19910 lb or 9031 kg on the front axle and 2374 lb or 1077 kg on the rear axle.
Basic Technical Data: The forklift is powered by a GM
4.3L V6 engine producing 93.5 hp or 69.7 kW on gas and 84.9 hp or 63.3 kW on LPG
at a governed speed of 2200 rpm. The engine displacement is 263 cu.in or 4310 cc
with 6 cylinders in a 90-degree V configuration. The engine features a cast iron
block construction and electronic ignition system for reliable performance.
Alternative engine configurations include Perkins diesel options available for
specific applications.
Lubrication: The engine lubrication system is a forced-feed type, employing a
gear-driven pump to circulate oil throughout the engine block and cylinder head,
ensuring all moving components are adequately lubricated for reduced friction
and prolonged engine life. The system includes a full-flow oil filter with
replaceable cartridge to remove contaminants. The oil pan capacity requires
periodic checking with the dipstick to maintain proper levels.
Cooling: Engine temperature is regulated by a pressurized liquid cooling system.
This system comprises a tube-and-fin radiator core, a belt-driven centrifugal
water pump, a wax-pellet thermostat, and a engine-driven cooling fan with fan
shroud for efficient airflow. The water pump circulates coolant through the
engine jackets to absorb heat, which is then dissipated as it passes through the
radiator core. The system includes a coolant recovery reservoir for maintaining
proper coolant level.
Transmission: The Hyster H90XMS is equipped with an
autoshifting powershift transmission featuring a single-stage torque converter
with hand or foot gear change control. Standard speeds are 1 forward and 1
reverse, with optional 2-speed forward configurations available for enhanced
travel speed range. The transmission provides smooth directional changes through
modulated hydraulic pressure application to the clutch packs.
Travel Speed: The forklift achieves a laden travel speed of 14.6 mph or 23.5
km/h and an unladen speed of 15.3 mph or 24.6 km/h with standard 1-speed
transmission. The 2-speed optional configuration provides additional speed range
for longer travel distances.
Axles: The front axle is a rigid, full-floating drive axle that carries the
majority of the load, incorporating the differential and final drive reduction.
The rear axle is a steer axle designed to oscillate, allowing all wheels to
maintain ground contact on uneven surfaces, which is crucial for stability. The
wheelbase measures 72.0 in or 1829 mm. The tread centre of drive tires single is
45.4 in or 1153 mm, with dual configuration at 51.8 in or 1316 mm. The tread
centre of steer tires single is 44.7 in or 1135 mm.
Brakes: The service brake system is foot-operated hydraulic drum type, providing
reliable and controlled stopping power through self-adjusting brake shoes
actuated by wheel cylinders. The parking brake is hand-operated mechanical type,
applying the rear wheel brakes through a cable linkage.
The electrical system operates on a 12 V architecture
with a maintenance-free battery rated at 475 cold cranking amps for reliable
cold-weather starting. The system includes a belt-driven alternator with
integral voltage regulator to maintain battery charge. The dash-mounted
instrument display provides gauges for fuel level, engine temperature, and
voltmeter, along with warning indicators for oil pressure and alternator output.
Wheel Drive: The Hyster H90XMS features a 2-wheel drive
configuration, with the front wheels providing the tractive effort through the
driven front axle (2x/2 configuration).
Wheels: The forklift uses a 2x/2 wheel configuration, meaning two wheels on the
front axle and two on the rear. The front wheels are the driven wheels with lug
studs and heavy-duty wheel nuts. The machine features a robust welded steel
plate frame construction for enhanced durability and impact resistance.
Tires: This model is fitted with pneumatic tyres as standard, providing
cushioning and traction for both indoor and outdoor applications. The front tyre
size is 250x15 with 12-ply rating for load capacity. The rear tyre size is
7.00x12 with 10-ply rating. Solid pneumatic tyres are available for applications
requiring additional puncture resistance.
Steering: The steering system is hydrostatic power steering with an adjustable
steer column, providing effortless maneuvering with minimal operator effort. The
system utilizes a hydraulic steering control unit (orbitrol) connected to a
double-acting steering cylinder. The minimum outside turning radius is 101.8 in
or 2586 mm. The length from centre drive axle to face of forks is 20.3 in or 516
mm.
The hydraulic system is designed for efficient lifting
and tilting operations with a gear-type hydraulic pump driven directly from the
engine. A 3-function hydraulic control valve provides precise metering for lift,
tilt, and auxiliary functions. It operates at an auxiliary hydraulic pressure
relief of 2250 psi or 15513 kPa for attachments. The hydraulic tank is equipped
with a return-line filter and breather cap to maintain oil cleanliness.
