Hyster S70FT Specifications
The Hyster S70FT is an LPG or dual fuel-powered
forklift that delivers a compelling balance of power, efficiency, and
versatility for material handling operations. Its core strength lies in the
proven PSI 2.4L or Kubota 2.5L engines, providing dependable torque and
reliability for continuous use. The machine rolls on cushion tires, offering
excellent stability and maneuverability on smooth indoor surfaces.
Operator comfort and safety are prioritized through features like hydrostatic
power steering, an infinitely adjustable steer column, and the Hyster Stability
System (HSS). The S70FT is equipped with an electronic powershift transmission
featuring a single pedal inch brake and is designed for productive operation
across various applications with low operating costs.
This model is equipped with a standard 2-stage limited free lift VISTA PLUS
mast, with optional 2-stage or 3-stage full free lift masts available depending
on application requirements. It rolls on cushion tires. The distance from the
centre of the drive axle to the fork face is 15.8 in (402 mm). The wheelbase is
56.3 in (1,430 mm). The total unladen weight of the standard truck is 10,535 lb
(4,779 kg) for the 2-stage LFL configuration.
When fully laden, the axle load distribution places 15,221 lb (6,904 kg) on the
front axle and 2,314 lb (1,050 kg) on the rear axle. In an unladen state, the
front axle load approximately 3,269 lb (1,483 kg), and the rear axle load 7,266
lb (3,296 kg). The overhead guard height is 84.0 in (2,128 mm). The step height
is 13.8 in (350 mm).
The Hyster S70FT offers a choice of two robust engine
options to suit different application requirements. The LPG engine is the PSI
2.4L, a robust and reliable powerplant specifically designed for industrial
operation. It is a four-cylinder engine with a total displacement of 143 cu.in
(2,343 cc). This engine produces a rated power of 59 hp (44 kW) at 2,700 rpm,
with peak torque of 121 lb-ft (164 Nm) at 2,000 rpm. The fuel tank capacity for
LPG is 10.7 gal (40.5 L).
The dual fuel engine option is the Kubota 2.5L, a four-cylinder engine with a
displacement of 152 cu.in (2,491 cc). This engine produces a rated power of 59
hp (44 kW) at 2,500 rpm, with peak torque of 131 lb-ft (178 Nm) at 1,000 rpm.
Lubrication is provided by a pressure-fed system ensuring all moving components
are adequately lubricated. Cooling is managed by a liquid-cooled system designed
to maintain optimal operating temperatures.
Transmission: It is fitted with a basic electronic
powershift transmission with neutral start switch and anti-restart protection.
Gear changes are controlled by a MONOTROL pedal, which integrates direction and
speed control. A single pedal inch brake is standard.
Travel Speed: The forklift achieves a laden travel speed of 11.1 mph (17.8 km/h)
and an unladen travel speed of 11.2 mph (18.0 km/h).
Axles: The drive axle is located at the front. The rear steer axle is robust
with proven steer axle design.
Brakes: The service brake system is hydraulic with foot control. The parking
brake is mechanical with hand control.
The electrical system is engineered to reliably support
the engine, safety features, and lighting. It operates on a standard 12-volt
architecture with a maintenance-free battery rated at 475 cold cranking amps.
The system powers the starter motor, engine control systems, and all essential
lighting components for safe operation. The Hyster Stability System (HSS) is
integrated into the electrical architecture.
The chassis provides a rigid and durable foundation,
constructed from heavy-gauge steel with fully welded frame construction to

Steering: The steering system on the Hyster S70FT is a hydrostatic power

250 Hours/6 Monthly maintenance includes changing
engine oil with appropriate oil selection for temperature conditions, checking
for wear and damage of drive belt, adjusting drive belt if needed, and checking
LPG regulator for tar drain.
500 Hours/6 Monthly maintenance includes hydraulic oil change for S40-70FT
models at 30.1 L (31.8 qt) or 39.8 L depending on configuration, inspecting and
replacing hydraulic tank breather as required, and cleaning battery and cable
terminals. Heavy-duty or high-temperature operations require more frequent
checks, and hydraulic oil sampling and analysis is a recommended practice.
1000 Hours/6 Monthly maintenance includes adjusting valves as required (intake
0.15 mm cold, exhaust 0.35 mm cold for gas/LPG engines), adjusting timing as
required (6° +1° BTDC Orange Mark), and changing LPG fuel filter for 2007
emission compliant engines.
2000 Hours/1 Yearly maintenance includes changing hydraulic oil filter, changing
hydraulic tank breather, changing air filter, changing PCV valve, checking
oxygen sensor indicator light, changing LPG fuel regulator filter and fuel
filter for applicable engines, and checking fuel injectors.
4000 Hours/2 Yearly maintenance includes changing hydraulic oil, changing
cooling system fluid at 11.0 L to 11.6 L depending on engine configuration, and
inspecting and replacing hydraulic tank breather as required. Normal operating
conditions may allow for less frequent oil sampling, but oil sampling should be
done just prior to all oil and filter changes.
