engineered for demanding indoor applications such as paper manufacturing,
industrial machinery, and primary metal products, requiring a rated load
capacity of 8000 lb or 3629 kg. The machine is powered by the Kubota WG3800 LPG
engine producing 74 hp at 1800 rpm, featuring 4-cylinder configuration and 3.8 L
displacement. The S80FT series features the Pacesetter VSM industrial onboard
computer that monitors and protects the powertrain to maximize uptime.
Additional features include heavy-duty premium wet disc brakes,
electronic-controlled powershift transmission with state-of-the-art clutch
packs, 3-function hydraulic control valve, hydrostatic power steering,
adjustable steer column, integral tie downs, and powertrain protection system.
The patented Hyster Stability System (HSS) is built into the fundamental design
to allow for articulation on uneven surfaces and minimize truck lean for
enhanced lateral stability.
The Hyster S80FT is a four-wheeled forklift with a load capacity of 8000 lb or
3629 kg at a 24 in or 610 mm load centre. The nominal load at the centre of
gravity is 3.63 t. Its design prioritises stability and manoeuvrability in
demanding indoor environments. The machine is fitted with cushion tyres as
standard with a 2x/2 configuration indicating two wheels on the front drive axle
and two wheels on the rear steer axle. The transmission type is electronic
powershift with 1 speed forward and 1 speed reverse as standard, with optional
DuraMatch 2 speed electronically controlled transmission available.
The service weight of the truck without load is 12650 lb or 5738 kg for standard
2-stage LFL configuration. The S80FT-BCS variant weighs 13340 lb or 6051 kg.
Weight distribution without load places 4797 lb or 2176 kg on the front axle and
7853 lb or 3562 kg on the rear axle. The S80FT-BCS shows front axle load of 5556
lb or 2520 kg and rear axle load of 7785 lb or 3531 kg. With load, weight
distribution shifts to 18182 lb or 8247 kg on the front axle and 2468 lb or 1119
kg on the rear axle.
Basic Technical Data: The forklift is powered by the
Kubota WG3800 LPG engine producing 74 hp or 55 kW at 1800 rpm with peak torque
of 221 lb-ft or 300 Nm at 1000 rpm. The engine displacement is 3769 cc or 230
cu.in with 4 cylinders. A 2018 S80FT2 model listing indicates 97 HP, which may
reflect a different engine configuration or measurement standard. The forklift
can equipped with GM 4.3L V6 engine options with 98 hp. The Kubota engine lowers
the operating cost per load moved yet delivers excellent productivity. Hyster
Variable Power Technology provides adjustable performance modes that allow
customers to maximize productivity or fuel economy.
Lubrication: The engine lubrication system is a forced-feed type, employing a
gear pump to circulate oil throughout the engine block and cylinder head,
ensuring all moving components are adequately lubricated for reduced friction
and prolonged engine life. The system includes a full-flow oil filter to remove
contaminants.
Cooling: Engine temperature is regulated by a liquid cooling system. This system
comprises a radiator, a water pump, a thermostat, and a cooling fan. The water
pump circulates coolant through the engine jackets to absorb heat, which is then
dissipated as it passes through the radiator core. The Pacesetter VSM monitors
and protects the cooling system to maximize uptime.
Transmission: The Hyster S80FT is equipped with an
electronically controlled powershift transmission featuring 1 speed forward and
1 speed reverse as standard, with optional DuraMatch 2 speed electronically
controlled transmission available. Strong transmission gears and shafts handle
the most demanding duty cycle, and state-of-the-art clutch packs provide longer
life. The Auto Deceleration System extends brake life by automatically slowing
the truck when the accelerator pedal is released. Controlled power reversal
feature virtually eliminates tire spin, thereby increasing tire life. Electronic
inching provides precise control during stacking operations.
Travel Speed: The forklift achieves a laden travel speed of 13.7 mph or 22.0
km/h and an unladen speed of 13.9 mph or 22.4 km/h.
Axles: The front axle is a rigid, drive axle that carries the majority of the
load, while the rear axle is a steer axle designed to oscillate, allowing all
wheels to maintain ground contact on uneven surfaces, which is crucial for
stability. The wheelbase measures 61.8 in or 1570 mm. The tread width for
standard configuration is 46.1 in or 1170 mm overall width, with wide tread
options of 50.0 in or 1270 mm. The step height is 15.6 in or 396 mm.
Brakes: The service brake system is foot-operated hydraulic type with heavy-duty
premium wet disc brakes providing excellent stopping power and extremely long
service life. Brakes are completely sealed from water and dirt, making them
ready for tough environments. The parking brake is hand-operated mechanical
type.
The electrical system operates on a 12 V architecture
with a maintenance-free battery rated at 475 cold cranking amps. The Pacesetter
VSM industrial onboard computer monitors and protects the powertrain to maximize
uptime, manages all vehicle systems to optimize performance, and enhances
diagnostic capabilities for maximum uptime.
The CANbus communications network minimizes
electrical problems through reliable operation. The dash-mounted
instrument display provides gauges and warning indicators. The Hyster
Stability System (HSS) is built into the fundamental design to allow for
articulation on uneven surfaces and minimize truck lean for enhanced
lateral stability.
Wheel Drive: The Hyster S80FT features a 2-wheel drive
configuration, with the front wheels providing the tractive effort (2x/2
configuration).
Wheels: The forklift uses a 2x/2 wheel configuration, meaning two wheels on the
front axle and two on the rear. The front wheels are the driven wheels. The
machine features a robust chassis design with integral tie downs. The isolated
drivetrain minimizes the effect of powertrain vibration and road-born shocks.
Tires: This model is fitted with cushion tyres as standard, ideal for indoor
smooth surfaces. The front tyre size is 22x9x16. The rear tyre size is
18x7x12.2.
Steering: The steering system is hydrostatic power steering with an adjustable
steer column, providing effortless maneuvering with minimal operator effort. The
minimum outside turning radius is 90.5 in or 2298 mm. The length from centre of
wheel to face of forks is 17.6 in or 447 mm.
The hydraulic system is designed for efficient lifting
and tilting operations with a 3-function hydraulic control valve. It operates at
an auxiliary hydraulic pressure relief of 2250 psi or 15.5 MPa for attachments.
The hydraulic tank capacity for drain and refill is 20.5 gal or 77.7 L. Optional
load-sensing on-demand hydraulic system with Variable Displacement Pump
technology produces oil flow only when needed, minimizing engine power required
and resulting in greater fuel economy.
The Hyster S80FT can be equipped with various mast
